Policy

Uncovered is part of an Australian Research Council-funded project being run by the Centre for Advancing Journalism at the University of Melbourne in partnership with Domestic Violence Victoria, VicHealth and the Victorian Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission.

It operates under principles of academic and editorial independence, similar to the Centre’s publication The Citizen. Read The Citizen’s Charter of Editorial Integrity here.

Uncovered will operate in accordance with the Australian Press Council’s Standards of Practice and the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance Journalists’ Code of Ethics, as well as heeding the Press Council and OurWatch guidelines on the ethical reporting of violence against women and domestic violence.

Uncovered is all about conversation and interaction with journalists and others involved in the media’s reporting of violence against women.

We want a vigorous and relevant conversation, and welcome debate.

To that end, we encourage comments and feedback, but will moderate interaction on the Uncovered site.

Uncovered will not engage with, publish or broadcast comments or content on the site or on social media that is, in our opinion, abusive or destructive.

Complaints about Uncovered should be addressed to the editor-in-chief, Margaret Simons, who can be reached at m.simons@unimelb.edu.au

Story ideas, tips and other material should be sent to the editor, Loni Cooper, at loni.cooper@unimelb.edu.au
